§ 58-2. Police and other city officers to assist at fires.

All police officers and any other officers of the city shall assist the chief of the fire department when called upon at a fire, in the preservation of property, and the prevention of goods being purloined, and the stoppage of passage of vehicles and keeping back of idle and suspicious persons lurking near fires.
