Division 1. GENERALLY |
§ 2-161. Oath of office.
All officers of the city shall take the following oath before entering upon the duties of their office:
"I, ___________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully support and true allegiance bear the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Mississippi and obey the laws thereof; that I am not disqualified from holding office by the Constitutions of the United States or the State of Mississippi; that I will support and obey the laws, ordinances and resolutions of the Council of the City of Jackson, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."
The oath shall be filed with the city clerk.
